Forklift Daily Inspection & Maintenance Checklist

I. Static Inspection (Engine Off / Power Disconnected)

1. Powertrain & Power Source

Internal Combustion (Diesel / LPG / Gasoline): Check engine oil, coolant, and fuel/LPG levels. Inspect lines and connections for any visible leaks.

Electric (Battery Powered): Check electrolyte levels (for non-maintenance-free batteries). Ensure battery terminals are clean, secure, and corrosion-free. Inspect cables for wear or damage, and verify a full charge.

2. Tires & Wheels

Check tire pressure and inflation (pneumatic tires), or inspect for excessive wear, chunking, and cracking (solid/cushion tires).

Remove any embedded foreign objects (stones, metal debris) from the tread.

Verify all wheel lug nuts are present, tight, and securely torqued.

3. Forks & Mast Assembly

Forks: Inspect for cracks, structural deformation, or severe bending. Ensure fork blade/tip wear does not exceed 10% of the original thickness. Verify locking pins and positioning latches function properly.

Mast: Inspect lift and tilt cylinders for hydraulic fluid leaks. Ensure lift chains are evenly tensioned, well-lubricated, and free of rust or broken links.

Load Backrest Extension: Confirm it is securely mounted, free of cracks, and undamaged.

4. Hydraulic System

Verify hydraulic oil tank fluid level is within the designated operating range.

Inspect all hydraulic hoses, fittings, couplings, and valve blocks for signs of weeping or leakage.

5. Chassis & Counterweight

Inspect the main frame and Overhead Guard (OHG) structural bolts for tightness.

Ensure the counterweight is securely attached and bolts are properly locked.

II. Dynamic Inspection (Post-Start / Pre-Operation)

6. Controls & Braking System

Service & Parking Brakes: Verify responsive braking action. Ensure the service brake holds firmly and the parking brake reliably secures the vehicle on inclines.

Steering: Ensure steering wheel play is within specification and operation is smooth without binding or catching.

Hydraulic Controls: Test mast functions (lift, lower, forward/backward tilt). Operations must be smooth, responsive, and free of unusual noise or hesitation.

7. Safety Devices & Lighting

Verify the horn, backup alarm (reverse buzzer), and strobe/warning lights function properly.

Check headlights, tail lights, turn signals, and brake lights for full functionality.

Ensure rearview and side mirrors are clean, properly adjusted, and undamaged.

Test the seat belt to confirm the retractor and locking mechanism lock securely (mandatory for all sit-down riders).

8. Instrument Panel & Gauge Cluster

Verify engine coolant temperature, oil pressure, battery state-of-charge (discharge indicator), hour meter, and malfunction indicator lights (MIL) display correctly with no active error codes or warning alarms.
